Milliken Plant Tour
Location: Meeting at Wertheim Patio, Bus to Millikin Plant

Conference attendees have a chance to tour Milliken’s SiVance plant in Gainesville under supervision of tour guides (Milliken employees). This is a great opportunity to see how chemical engineering concepts are applied in an industrial environment.

ChemE Jeopardy Preliminary Competition
Location: Florida Gym Rooms 210, 230, 260 & 280

ChemE Jeopardy is a competition between a max of 3 teams at a time, where Chemical Engineers get to showcase their knowledge in chemical engineering facts and design through the familiar platform of a fun game of Jeopardy. Winners will receive a monetary prize and will be able to compete in AIChE National Conference.

Conference attendees enjoy a pastries, fruit, and coffee while listening to the President of UF AIChE address the conference giving general instructions on events and navigation.

Poster Competition
Location: Reitz 2355 & 2365

The Student Poster Competition provides students the opportunity to present their research to fellow peers and professors from across the southern region. Presenters get to build their technical communication skills while also discussing the research they care about and can learn about related research projects from peers in their topic section. Students attending the poster sessions as viewers are given the opportunity to learn about new areas of research within the many facets of chemical engineering.

Technical Presentation Competition
Location: Reitz 2320 & 2325

The Technical Presentation Competition provides students the opportunity to present their research to fellow peers and professors from across the southern region. Presenters get to build their technical communication skills while also discussing the research they care about and can learn about related research projects from peers in their topic section. Students attending the technical presentation sessions as viewers are given the opportunity to learn about new areas of research within the many facets of chemical engineering.

Recruiting Fair

Conference attendees are invited to come to speak with graduate school and industry recruiters in order to expand their networks and look for future career opportunities.

Diversity and Inclusion Seminar
Location: Reitz Auditorium

Conference attendees are invited to attend this seminar to learn about diversity and inclusion impacts industry and the efforts made by chemical engineers to create more inclusive and diverse working environments. Speaker to be announced.

ChemE Car Safety Inspection
Location: Florida Gymnasium

Chem E car teams have their vehicles inspected by judges in order to uncover any potential safety hazards and have any questions answered. Posters will also be reviewed.

ChemE Car Competition
Location: Florida Gymnasium

This event is one of the main attractions of the AIChE Student Regional Conference. ChemE Car teams compete to see if their vehicles can reach a certain distance more accurately than others. The top qualifiers at this conference will receive an award and will be selected to compete in the National AIChE Chem E Car Competition.

Resume and Interview Workshop
Location: Reitz 3320

Conference attendees are invited attend a presentation by Erin Lin, Senior Assistant Director for Career Pathways at the University of Florida’s Career Connection Center. She will be presenting on what makes a good resume and tips for interviews.

Escape Room
Location: Reitz 2330

The Escape Room will be a fun, team-building activity for members of the conference where teams will try to find an escape route from a “locked” room using the clues found around the room.

President's Meeting, Hosting a Conference Seminar and Conference 2024/2025 Bids
Location: Reitz Auditorium 

This event will discuss the key considerations the next host of AIChE Southern Regional Conference will need to consider in order to organize a fun and successful conference in the future. Our planning team will discuss some of the biggest challenges we faced and ways the issues can be solved. At the end, student chapters will get the chance to volunteer/ bid for the opportunity to be next year's host.

Awards Banquet and Dinner
Location: Reitz Grand Ballroom

To close out the conference, we will be holding an Awards Banquet Lunch, where Keynote Speaker Billy Bardin, Global Digitalization Director for DOW Inc. and Current National AIChE President will present. Additionally, winners of the Chem E Car Competition, Chem E Jeopardy Competition, Poster Competition, and Technical Presentation Competition will be announced. Awards themselves will be distributed after conference by National AIChE
